When we spoke with Martin Page in 2014, he explained: “To me, ‘We Built This City’ is live music’s been pulled away from the streets of LA. We want to get back to rock and roll and play it live. … The corporations had taken away great live music. We’re being stamped on, the rock was being stamped on.
Most of Rock of Ages was silly, enjoyable, hypocritical nonsense. With We Built This City, for about a minute, Rock of Ages seemed just a little bit smarter than the rest of the film might have you believe.

Somebody To Love
The band opened with their cover of Fred Neil’s “The Other Side Of This Life,” their standard opener in this era. Grabbing the crowd’s attention, the band then cranked out a rendition of one of their biggest hits, “Somebody To Love,” from 1967’s Surrealistic Pillow album.
IIRC some of the original members split but maintained rights to the name and objected when the remnants reorganized a new Jefferson Airplane so they changed their name to Jefferson Starship to get around the trademark issues.
She suffers from erythromelalgia – a neurovascular disease that makes her extremities, mostly her feet, burn. As a result, she’s often surrounded by “four air conditioners that are aimed at me to keep my feet cold.” She can’t stand for more than 10 minutes at a time.
2016–present: post-Kantner era
Jefferson Starship has continued to tour with a line-up consisting of remaining members David Freiberg (vocals, guitar), Donny Baldwin (drums), Chris Smith (keyboards), Jude Gold (lead guitar), and Cathy Richardson (vocals).
In August 2016, GQ magazine declared this song as the worst of all time, referring to it as “the most detested song in human history”.
Memphis. Cleveland is widely accepted as the “Home of Rock and Roll,” but Memphis may have had more influence in developing the popular music genre.

They followed it up with “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” from the soundtrack to 1987’s Mannequin. (For those not around back then, this was a movie where Andrew McCarthy fell in love with a living mannequin played by Kim Cattrall.) The song shot to Number One all over the world.
