Carnage was once a serial killer known as Cletus Kasady, and became Carnage after merging with the offspring of the alien symbiote called Venom during a prison breakout. The symbiote amplified his psychotic nature making him even less mentally stable than he had been previously, and therefore even more dangerous.

Carnage was created by David Michelinie and Mark Bagley. Carnage’s personality drastically “changed” in AXIS storyline when he became a noble “hero” and sacrificed himself to stop Red Skull, but that is not his true personality.
Venom’s most dangerous offspring became one of Marvel’s most vicious villains after bonding with serial killer Cletus Kasady. Carnage is more violent, unpredictable, and some would say more powerful than Venom.
During Eddie Brock’s storyline in the comics, Venom got him into a lot of trouble.

Carnage vs Hulk
The Green Goliath is one of Marvel’s most powerful characters, just like Thor. His powers are practically limitless and there are only a few characters that he cannot beat. … Just like Hulk would be able to defeat Venom, he could easily defeat Carnage in direct combat, simply because he is so powerful.
When Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock made his cinematic debut in 2018’s Venom, the Marvel antihero went up against the villainous symbiote known as Riot. Now, in the 2021 sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Venom is going toe to toe with perhaps his biggest enemy: Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage ends with Eddie Brock and Venom teaming up after a short break-up to take down the villain Cletus Kasady aka Carnage (Woody Harrelson).Sep 30, 2021

The main reason was because the Carnage symbiote was not a perfect match with Cletus like Venom was with Eddie. In the middle of the climactic battle, we see Carnage and Cletus arguing with each other over Cletus’ one true love Shriek, who Carnage hates because of her symbiote-killing sonic scream.
The 2008 story “New Ways to Die” features the first appearance of Anti-Venom. … Brock is enveloped in a new white “Anti-Venom” symbiote when remnants of the Venom symbiote in his body merge with special antibodies (produced by his white blood cells) due to Li’s Lightforce energy.
The end scene shows Eddie and Venom in a hotel room, watching a Mexican soap opera, when they are transported to a different universe. In place of the soap opera on the TV screen is J Jonah Jameson’s news report that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, as seen at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The abridged version goes something like this: By the end of the film, the symbiote and Eddie had fully bonded; they had become a single organism. Although the explosion had incinerated most of the alien tissue, as long as Eddie survived, a small part of the symbiote survives (at a cellular level).
Venom takes a metal bar and climbs the church, stabbing Carnage in the head and freeing Anne. As he saves her, Shriek plummets to her potential demise following a battle against Mulligan where she nearly kills him. But before hitting the ground, she lets out one scream that separates Carnage and Cletus.
Carnage has been known to be able to withstand bullets, explosives and energy blasts, making it hard to damage the dangerous villain. He has managed to defeat Spider-Man, Venom, the Avengers and Deadpool all on seperate occasions, showcasing his true strength against Marvel’s mightiest heroes.
While at the house fire, Mary Jane uses the firetruck siren to hinder Venom long enough for Spider-Man to beat him into the burning building. As soon as a firefighter tells Mary Jane the building is clear of people, Spider-Man does what he must… he forces the building to collapse and kills Venom once in for all.
The new symbiote then bonded with Brock’s cellmate Cletus Kasady through a cut on his hand, transforming him into Carnage. The bond between the Carnage symbiote and Kasady was stronger than the bond between Brock and the Venom symbiote. Cletus Kasady was also a serial killer and thought of as insane.
Once he came into contact with it, the two bonded, and Carnage was born. However, it is the way in which Kasady merges with the symbiote that gives Carnage his unique coloring. Rather than bonding through exterior means the way Eddie and Venom did, the symbiote had merged with Cletus through his bloodstream.
Carnage’s creation stems from a violent altercation between Kasady and Eddie Brock, with a later near-death experience finally uniting the symbiote with Kasady. Given Kasady’s characterization and the involvement of blood, Carnage’s transformation in Venom: Let There Be Carnage is almost vampiric in its violence.
In the comics, Toxin was the third major symbiote character introduced on the page after Venom and Carnage, first appearing in Venom/Carnage #2 in 2004. This red and blobbier looking symbiote is created reluctantly when Carnage (both the symbiote and its host Cletus Kassady) realize they’ve become pregnant.
After suffering a beatdown at the hands of Shriek, we see Mulligan’s eyes glow blue. One likely reason for this, is that a symbiote has been implanted in him…. somehow. In the comics, Detective Patrick Mulligan is host to the third symbiote introduced in Spider-Man lore, Toxin.
During his time on this orb, Knull began creating symbiotes and sending them out into the vastness of space. … More recently, with the Grendel re-awakening on Earth, Knull could communicate through it and came to know Venom and Spider-Man (Miles Morales) as enemies.
