Set in the year 3465, the game follows Nier as he tries to save his sister Yonah from a fatal disease known as the Black Scrawl. Fighting alongside him are the magical book Grimoire Weiss, the possessed foul mouth Kainé and the cursed immortal child Emil who petrifies people.
Drakengard 3 begins around the year 900, Drakengard 1 continues thereafter and ends in 2003, Replicant’s prologue is in 2049 and game-play begins around 3360. Finally, Automata takes place during 11945 — 10,000 years after the end of World War II.
Narrative connections. It may not be immediately apparent, but NieR Replicant and NieR:Automata both take place in the same world. Their stories may be separated by a few thousand years, but there’s clear narrative connections between the two.
NieR Replicant ver. … The cast from NieR:Automata, namely the English and Japanese voice actors of 2B and 9S, will also be featured in the game, though they will not be reprising their roles as the Yorha androids.
You should start with Nier: Automata. It is technically the sequel to Nier Replicant, but it builds upon the original game in every way. The combat is faster and more pleasurable, the story is easier to follow, and its alternate playthroughs change the game in dramatic ways.
As punishment, the Devola and Popola line of twin androids were discontinued and gotten rid of, except for one pair – the pair that we meet in NieR: Automata. For this pair, their memories of Project Gestalt were wiped, and they were allowed to go free.
2 Type B (Battle) or 2B serves as the protagonist of Route A in NieR:Automata. She is a YoRHa android created to battle the machine lifeforms that have invaded the planet on behalf of the surviving humans.Jan 7, 2021
That’s right, the character who ends up looking the least human of all is actually the last one in existence. Thanks to the experiments performed on him, it seems like Emil is immortal, meaning his Replicant and Gestalt never needed to be separated.

In Nier Gestalt, Yonah is 10 years old during Part 1 and then 15 by the end of Part 2. Being a father and a warrior, it only makes sense Father Nier would be able to take care of Yonah for a full decade before things went sour.
It really doesn’t matter if someone players Nier Replicant before or after Nier Automata. The two games are set in the same universe, and they’re definitely connected. However, the events of Automata are self-contained enough that players don’t need to play Replicant to understand them.
The game’s Very Hard mode is even more insane, resulting in an instant death from a single blow, even if it’s a slap on the wrist from a low-level minion. And yet, people have found ways of besting its biggest baddies on Very Hard mode. Some even instill further challenges on themselves just to make the game harder.
Both games are great for fans of shoot ’em up as well as hack and slash games, with NieR: Automata being the better one in many ways. However, NieR Replicant is a game that can easily be enjoyed even by those who aren’t used to fast-paced combat because the title incorporates other gaming genres.
As for A2 being called A2 it’s because she has a different designation method. 2B is short for YoRHa Model Number 2 Type B. A2 is short for YoRHa Attack Number 2. Older YoRHa units are “Role” then “Model Number” while newer units are “Model Number” then “Type”.
2B looks like some sort of interpolation of Kaine and young Nier like if she is their doughter that combined both of their looks with more of younger Nier influence. Also Adam and Eve had very much older Nier + Kaine look. There is also something from Yonah in them.
