In Norse mythology, Lævateinn is a weapon crafted by Loki mentioned in the Poetic Edda poem Fjölsvinnsmál. The name Lævateinn does not appear in the original manuscript reading, but is an emendation from Hævateinn made by Sophus Bugge and others.
The Scepter, occasionally referred to as Loki’s Scepter, was a staff weapon that served as the original containment vessel for the Mind Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones. Gifted by Thanos, the staff was wielded by Loki to lead and command the invasion to Earth.
Laevateinn is the name of a mythological sword forged by Loki in Norse mythology. It was first created, according to the myths, to slay a rooster named Víðópnir. But the sword’s legacy far exceeds its original purpose.
What Is Kid Loki’s Flaming Sword? Loki episode 5 reveals Kid Loki’s flaming dagger, or short sword, which he is able to summon at will. Toward the end of the episode, Kid Loki gifts the dagger to Loki, claiming he’ll need it in his journey. This dagger is based both on Marvel Comic lore and Norse mythology lore.
In the first Avengers movie, Loki DID. He received the scepter that contained the mind stone (which we only discovered during “Age of Ultron”) from Thanos himself, in the hopes that Loki would bring back the space stone from earth. Loki wielded both stones for the entire movie.
Laeveteinn (Old Norse “damage twig”) is the mystical, ancestral sword of Loki. Loki is able to magically summon the sword to himself.
Although its name is inspired by the Jormungandr, the Leviathan itself is not a creature from Norse mythology. The Leviathan is tied to Abrahamic religions, and just as God of War 3 was originally planned to end with the establishment of monotheistic religions, the death of the Norse gods may see that connection made.
Despite his strengths, Loki has his weakness. Afterall, he’s considered weak by Frost Giant standards. If Thor uses Mjolnir against him, Loki can also be rendered immobile. Plus, he can be beaten badly enough that he cannot continue to fight, as seen when the Hulk tosses him around.
A shocking moment in Loki episode 5 revealed that Kid Loki killed the God of Thunder, Thor. In episode 5, Sylvie, the Lady Loki variant, discovers that the TVA (Time Variance Authority) does not kills the variants. Instead, it dumps them inside a mysterious void that is assumed to be the “end of time”.
Due to this heritage, Kid Loki possesses the natural abilities of any Frost Giant, such as superhuman strength, durability, speed, agility and healing, the ability to manipulate ice and cold, and live for thousands of years.
Thanos found Loki after the events of Thor, and Loki told him of Earth. Thanos probably even used the Sceptre to mess with Loki’s mind. When S.H.I.E.L.D. started messing with the Tesseract, the Mind Stone within the Sceptre must have flared up.
Superhuman Longevity: Like all Frost Giants, Loki aged far slower than humans. Despite being over 1,000 years old, he still maintains the physical appearance of a man in his prime. In Avengers: Infinity War, when Loki was killed by Thanos, he was 1,054 years old.
If you watched the most recent episode of Loki, then you know Loki upgraded from daggers to a short sword (which is likely Laevateinn, the sword he can summon at will in the pages of Marvel Comics) that Kid Loki (Jack Veal) gave him to fight Alioth.
