There are four weapons that can currently be obtained through exotic questlines: the Khvostov 7G-0X, the Year 3 Gjallarhorn, the Year 3 Thorn, and the Outbreak Prime.
The Destiny 2 Exotic Quests are missions that result in players unlocking either an Exotic Weapon or a piece of Exotic Armor. Currently there are three known Exotic Quests: Mida Multi-Tool.

Thunderlord is an exotic Machine Gun. In Year 1, it could be obtained from raids, the Prison of Elders, the Weekly Nightfall Strike, the Crucible, or purchased from Xûr for 17 Strange Coins. It can currently still be obtained as a random drop from Year 1 activities and legacy engrams.
No Time to Explain is a level 40 Exotic Pulse Rifle. It is obtained as a reward for completing the quest Not Forged in Light. This quest may be obtained from Lakshmi-2 by completing the alternate ending of Paradox on Heroic difficulty.
The Last Word is an exotic hand cannon. It can be possibly obtained by completing the Vault of Glass, Legendary/Exotic engrams, finishing Crucible matches or Vanguard Strikes, Weekly Nightfall Strike, or during some weekends, purchased from Xur for Strange Coin.
The Lord Of Wolves Catalyst comes with a very special perk called Fang & Claw that provides two potential benefits to the exotic shotgun: Increase reload speed when Release the Wolves is active. Increase stability when Release the Wolves is inactive.

Destiny 2: Season of the Lost comes with a new quest, Tracing the Stars. While it starts as a Legendary quest, it eventually transforms into the A Hollow Coronation Exotic quest for the Ager’s Scepter Exotic Trace Rifle. As of this writing, the quest is fully available and Ager’s Scepter is unlockable in Destiny 2.
Zen Meteor is a level 40 Exotic Sniper Rifle. This Exotic weapon cannot be sold by Xur and must be obtained by decrypting Exotic Engrams or by completing the weekly Crucible bounty.

Patience and Time is an exotic sniper rifle. It can be purchased from Xûr for 17 Strange Coins or obtained from engrams, Crucible matches, Vanguard Strikes, Nightfall strikes, raids, or Prison of Elders.
Introduced in The Taken King (Year 2), Exotic Weapon Blueprints can be access from terminals in Hall of Guardians in The Tower. Every time the player finds an Exotic Weapon, the blueprint is added to the collection.
