Sony Pictures announced a release date for the film, and it’s not until next summer. The movie is set for a theatrical run beginning on June 24, 2022.
Where the Crawdads Sing isn’t a true story, but it is allegedly loosely inspired by a murder that took place in Zambia while Delia Owens lived there. Owens, now in her 70’s, lives on a remote homestead in Northern Idaho. … Also consider the murder trial, and how Kya is being persecuted because she lives in nature.

The shell necklace that Kya gives to Chase becomes a manifestation of the dissonance between her desire to be loved and her wariness to let other people into her life. When she and Chase first spend time together, he finds a shell and gives it to her.
Tate is a young boy from town who befriends Kya. He teaches her to read and they develop a romantic relationship. Though Tate eventually leaves Kya to go to college, he can’t forget about her. Chase’s suspicious death leads to Kya’s arrest once investigators uncover their turbulent romantic past.
On January 25, Deadline reported that Crawdads had cast two new stars: Taylor John Smith and Harris Dickinson. Smith will play Tate Walker, a young fisherman from Barkley Cove who falls in love with Kya and eventually teaches her to read and write before heading off to college.
Known as Kya for her entire life, the woman named Catherine Danielle Clark was able to overcome incredible obstacles to become a renown author and wildlife expert. Catherine Danielle Clark may have been “Marsh Girl,” but she learned to live life on her own terms.

Crawdad can refer to any freshwater crustacean from the genus Astacus or the genus Cambarus. Crawdads are decapods, meaning they have 10 walking legs. They are mostly small, lobster-like creatures, like the spiny lobster, also called the rock lobster.
There is a comparison between the beach and the Marsh in that “Sand keeps secrets better than mud” because the Marsh doesn’t need to keep secrets, so it is awful at keeping them.
The body of Chase Andrews is found by two boys next to an abandoned fire tower in the swamp on October 30, 1969. In 1952, six-year-old Kya watches her mother leave their shack in the marsh.
The protagonist of Where the Crawdads Sing, Kya is a six-year-old girl at the outset of the novel. A curious and adventurous person, she lives in the North Carolina marshlands in a run-down shack.
Independence vs. Human Connection. Because Where the Crawdads Sing is largely about abandonment, Delia Owens considers the importance of developing a sense of independence. Kya is only seven years old when her last family member deserts her, leaving her alone in isolated marshlands.
