You don’t need to have completed the main game in order to explore the Isle of Armor. The Pokémon you’ll find on the Isle of Armor will be scaled to your current level, which means if you’re taking a beefed-up, endgame squad of ‘mon there, your enemies will be quite strong.
Since the island lies off the coast of Galar proper, it’s inaccessible from the mainland, so you’ll need to take a Flying Taxi from Wedgehurst Station to get there. … Once you’ve visited the Isle of Armor for the first time, you’ll be able to fast travel back to it even from the mainland.
The DLC arrives alongside a new update, which introduces an assortment of new and returning Pokemon to the Galar region. These monsters can only be caught in the new Isle of Armor area, but you don’t need to own the expansion to add them to your collection.

The island can be accessed by using the Rotom Bike, after getting the upgrade that allows it to ride over water. It is a relatively large island, and only accessible in the latter half of the game, so the Pokémon located there are at a decent level, coupled with the Haxorus, which makes it very worth visiting.
