Visiting a hospital is guaranteed to recover fainted characters. PSI Healing γ or Ω (or Supr in EarthBound Beginnings) can also be used to revive an unconscious character, although it might randomly fail to do so (Ω has a better success rate).
In Mother 3, hotels and hospitals were replaced by Hot Springs, and there were no hotels or hospitals in Mother 3. This means the hot spring is used to recover HP and PP, remove any status ailments, and revive any fallen party members.
Hospitals are buildings seen throughout EarthBound Beginnings and EarthBound. Hospitals are known for curing any status ailment from “poisoning” to “unconsiousness”. Curing these ailments require a moderate amount of dollars to cure. The hospital has three very important people working in it.
Yep, if you talk to your mom she will send you up to bed. You can also rest at hotels (not for free though) and you are automatically healed at certain story points.
When naked Claus uses PK Ω, the PSI causes all party members to fall asleep. cannot do anything until they wake up. They usually wake up within two or three turns, or if said character is attacked.
Strangeness, also known as strange feeling or feeling strange, is a status ailment in EarthBound and Mother 3. Known as “Confusion” in EarthBound Beginnings. Its primary effect is to give its victims a chance to attack their allies or even themselves.
PK Beam — Offense PSI that is rumored to be the strongest attack PSI. Deals a significant amount of damage to one or all opponents and may even destroy them instantly.
IQ is a stat in the Mother series, short for intelligence quotient. Its effect is not entirely clear, as it is not described in-game. However, in EarthBound, IQ increases the amount of PP the user has, an IQ point is equivalent to 5 PP, also, Jeff Andonuts’ IQ affects his ability to fix broken items.
Keep everyone’s HP up (over 75 or so) and hit it with PSI Fire and a Bottle Rocket or two if you bought some from the arms dealer. After you defeat Boogey Tent, it will disappear, leaving a trash can and two zombies guarding it who waste no time in running away. Inside the trash can, you’ll find a Jar of Fly Honey.
Talk to the guys standing outside of the Chaos Theater. They give you a Backstage pass to their show. Go into the theater and use the Backstage pass to get in.
If you’re in Threed and you want to get past the ghosts, the only way is to visit the Threed graveyard and make sure the zombies see you, then go to the hotel. After Jeff leaves Winters and rescues Ness and Paula, use the zombie paper to trap the zombies.
The King Statue has the most HP for any single enemy or ally, having an insane 100 million.
Sudden Guts Pills are items in EarthBound. They raise the user’s Guts in battle, but only for the duration of the battle. They can be bought from Hassan’s shop in Scaraba for $500, and are dropped by Enraged Fire Plugs, Musicas and Electro Swooshes.
His drawback is that he can only equip items from the “of Kings” set (the Diadem of Kings, the Cloak of Kings, the Sword of Kings and the Bracer of Kings). Poo cannot use any weapons except his fists, the yo-yos, slingshots (both of which lower his attack) and a weapon exclusive to his use, the Sword of Kings.
Use PSI Rockin on the cops if you need to. Be sure to keep your HP up over 35 – their crushing chop attacks can do that much damage. Use a Hamburger or Lifeup to recover HP. If you’re lucky, a cop or two might leave a burger after you beat them.
The coin of slumber is a piece of equipment found in EarthBound, where it can be bought for $1500 at the Fourside Department Store and the Dusty Dunes Desert Drugstore. When equipped, it provides a beneficial boost to Defense. It also raises one’s Luck stat by 10.

“PK” stands for psychokinesis, and “PSI” stands for psionics. It’s important to note that although PK became PSI in the localization process, there ARE some techniques in the MOTHER games that have “PSI” in the name, like “PSI Magnet” or “PSI Shield”.
IQ – Increases the amount of damage your PK powers do. Speed – Helps you dodge enemy attacks, take your turn earlier in battle, and run away.
Luck is a stat appearing only in Earthbound. Akin to IQ, its effects are not completely clear. It most likely affects your accuracy – chance to hit and dodge.
It is possible to defeat Master Belch without Fly Honey the first time you encounter, but it is very difficult, since the damage taken to Master Belch gets fully recovered every turn. Belch’s in-game sprite does not match his clay model represented on the back of the box.
“Belch’s weakness for Fly Honey is legendary. After beating the Tent in Threed, you can find a jar of this stuff. Feed it to Belch right at the start of the fight. After a round or two, Belch will go nuts for the Honey and forget about attacking you.
The Boogey Tent is a minor boss in EarthBound, appearing in Threed. After Jeff joins Ness’s party, the Boogey Tent appears in the southern region of Threed, disguising itself as a regular purple tent.
It can be traded in the Twoson hospital for a Magic Truffle.
This item is similar to the Diamond appearing later in the game, as it is again used to free the Runaway Five from a debt to the manager of a theater — this time, in Fourside’s Topolla Theater.
Take it to the manager of the Topolla Theater. Maybe she’ll have a change of heart when you offer her the gem. Before the Runaway Five go, they’re going to give one last performance. Don’t miss it!
